Last updated: September 30, 2026

  1. 1. Program. Herbert Memorial UMC Text Reminders is a text message program run by Herbert Memorial United Methodist Church, 84 Forest Avenue, Georgetown, SC 29440 (“Herbert Memorial UMC,” “we”). We send reminders and updates about worship services, church meetings, ministry events, schedule changes, and cancellations to people who opt in. We do not send marketing or third-party messages.
  2. 2. How to opt in. Opt in by texting JOIN to (854) 855-7427, by asking church office staff in person or by phone (843-546-7875) to sign you up after they read you our consent statement, or by submitting the sign-up form at herbertumc.org/text. By opting in, you agree to receive recurring text messages from Herbert Memorial UMC at the mobile number you provide. Consent is not a condition of membership, attendance, or giving. After you opt in, you’ll get a confirmation text.
  3. 3. Message frequency. Message frequency varies, usually a few messages a month.
  4. 4. Cost. Message and data rates may apply. Contact your wireless carrier for details about your plan.
  5. 5. Opting out. Reply STOP to (854) 855-7427 at any time to stop receiving messages. You’ll get one final text confirming you’ve been unsubscribed. After that, you won’t get any more texts unless you opt in again by texting JOIN or START. STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, QUIT, REVOKE, and OPTOUT also work.
  6. 6. Help. Reply HELP for help, or contact the church office at 843-546-7875 or humc@herbertumc.org.
