Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 30, 2026

Herbert Memorial United Methodist Church (“Herbert Memorial UMC,” “we”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect through our text message program, Herbert Memorial UMC Text Reminders, and through this website, and how we use it.

Information we collect

Text message program: your mobile phone number; your name, if you give it to church staff or on our sign-up form; the date and method you opted in (keyword JOIN; in person or by phone with church office staff; or by submitting the sign-up form at herbertumc.org/text); and your replies such as JOIN, HELP, and STOP.
When you contact us by phone, email, or website forms (our Connect Card for first-time visitors and our Prayer Request form, both Microsoft Forms linked from this site): the information you choose to provide.

How we use it

We use your mobile number only to send the Herbert Memorial UMC Text Reminders you asked for (worship, meetings, events, schedule changes, and cancellations), to answer HELP requests, to honor STOP requests, and to keep records of your consent. Message frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help at any time.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. We never share, sell, or rent your mobile number or text message opt-in data and consent to any third party. We may share information with service providers that help us run the program, such as our text message delivery provider, only so they can deliver messages for us. This does not include text messaging opt-in data and consent, which is never shared with any third party.

Security and retention

We limit access to the text sign-up list to church staff who manage it. We keep opt-in and opt-out records for as long as needed to run the program and meet messaging rules.

Your choices

Reply STOP to (854) 855-7427 to opt out at any time. To have your information updated or removed, contact the church office.

Text message terms

Full program terms, including the carrier disclaimer (“Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages”), are at https://herbertumc.org/sms-terms. To sign up, see https://herbertumc.org/text.
