We serve as a covenant church with Helping Hands of Georgetown County, helping neighbors in need.

What it is
Herbert Memorial UMC is a covenant church with Helping Hands of Georgetown County. Their own words capture the work:
Compassionate Care aptly describes our services, offering food items through our Food Pantry, utility support for those in crisis, and free dental assistance for the uninsured through our Dr. Edward Benton DuBose Dental Clinic to our neighbors in need. Providing services such as access to oral care and recognizing that food insecurity remains a vital issue in Georgetown County are crucial steps in improving the overall health and wellbeing of the community.
Their slogan says it plainly: HOPE + HELP = CHANGE.

Events for this ministry
Souper Bowl Saturday
11:00 am–2:00 pm · Fellowship Hall and outside, Herbert Memorial UMC, 84 Forest Avenue
Come celebrate our food collection for Helping Hands with soup and fellowship, Corn Hole, Giant Jenga, a Cake Walk, and Thanksgiving cards for shut-ins. Since October 4, food has been gathering on three team tables in the church hallway: CCU, USC, and Clemson. Pick your team and add to its table. The Thanksgiving items are especially welcome, and anything on the year-round list counts too. Every bit goes to the Helping Hands Food Pantry.
